From The Press
… A major breakthrough in original
Israeli Jazz creation
Danny Karpel, Jazz journalist, GALZ Radio Jazz broadcaster & commentator
"… If anything beautiful, complex, almost poetic, has ever
been created in Israeli Jazz – this must be it. Iris and Ofer Portugali, a pianist and
singer (and drummer), wife and husband, went for the kind of harmony that you
do not get to hear on the local Jazz scene very often. We have some really talented people
in this country”.
Yossi Harsonski, "Ma’ariv”
Ofer
and Iris Portugaly are the best thing that has happened to Jazz in Israel
Ronen Meirowitz, "Arim”
"… The closer you listen, the fresher, more convincing,
catchier and more relevant it sounds. Iris is an excellent vocalist and a
surprising female drummer. Ofer is a polished and knowledgeable pianist and a
proficient and confident arranger. Together, they create a new language in Israeli song. And even if you still have a problem with Jazz, as an academic-rationalistic musical genre, go with the
songs of these two, with their Hebrew that emerges proudly from the encounter with this
English-speaking music and does not subordinate itself to its rules… Simply
beautiful songs… Definitely worth a try”.
Amos Oren, "Yediot Aharonot”
"GOSPEL-JAZZ – is this year’s best put together concert on the Israeli
jazz scene…great,
amazing, perfect, gripping and exciting…”
Dubi Yarhi / ‘Walla’ jazz forum manager
"Elegant, exciting, rich in musical highlights, stirring. A
pleasure and an obligation to hear for all the jazz fans!”

Amazing…
Thank you very much to all of you. It was great
I just got back from another show of gospel jazz and I’m
just stunned…
Thank you very much to all of you. It was great
Thank
you very much for the pleasurable and special night.
The combination of creating a relationship with the audience
and in the same breath to performaning in such a special way, is something you
don’t often see in many performances.
This show features professionalism,
warm-heartedness, and simplicity that no words can describe. Thank you very
much for the pleasurable and special night. Keep up the good work
I
have never enjoyed such a delightful and stirring a performance
as much as this one!
When I see you in action, I am encouraged. I understand that
Jazz in Israel is alive and well!
We were at your show last
night in Reut.
An amazing experience. We
are coming again to Givatayeem.
Keep up the good work!
I was so excited by your show in Arad.
It’s unbelievable that
Israel can present such a quality show, blessed with talent
I was at your recent show at
the Einav Center .
This was my fourth time and I
just can’t get enough of your performances. By the way, my family and
girlfriend, who has seen you three times, also had a great time. When are you
coming out with a Gospel disk?”
"This is the second time I
have seen this performance. The first time was in August in Haifa. At the first
performance I was astonished to find out that there exists in Israel an
ensemble that has such all-around talent and excellence: the material chosen,
the excellent and sophisticated arrangements and the fine performance. The real
gem was the Round Midnight. Is there a possibility that you will make a C.D. of
the show’s songs?
